AWARD WINNING DESIGN
We were so pleased with how the Hedley Residence in New Canaan construction came out, especially due to the high quality work of Village Square Properties and Joe Pozzi, builder. This year the house won Special Recognition for Most Charming Custom Home Exterior in the 2003 Home Building Industry Awards (HOBI) given by the Home Builders Association of Connecticut at their gala ceremony in November.
NONNEWAUG HIGH SCHOOL DEDICATION
On Sunday, September 14, 2003 the dedication ceremony was held at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, CT. It was attended by representatives from high school administration, school district administration, Woodbury and Bethlehem boards of selectmen, building committee members, teaching staff and students. Besides a ribbon cutting and group photograph, there was brief remarks. We appreciate the kind remarks of Superintendent of Schools David Pendleton and Building Committee Chairman George Rehkamp who both expressed appreciation for the unifying campus design, vision and successful completion of the design by Architect Greg Grew. Afterwards there were building tours conducted by agri-science students and refreshments in the new dining facility.
The Grew Design, Inc. Scholarship
Several years ago the Grew Design, Inc. Scholarship was established to award local high school graduates who were pursuing secondary education in a discipline related to the building industry.
The recipient in 1999 was Ashley Gransky, a student of Nonnewaug High School, going on to environmental studies at Otterbein College.
On May 31, 2001 Pauline Grew, CFO made the presentation of our 3rd annual $1,000 scholarship award to Joseph Sajda at Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in Torrington, CT. During the past school year Joe Sajda had been working in our office under the high school's work/study program and we had been very impressed with both his work and his academic accomplishments. For 2002 we broke tradition and continued sponsorship of Joe Sajda's pursuit of an engineering degree.
